The neighborhood in Tisno where the house “U Danice” is located is called Istočna Gomilica. It sits on a gentle hill, about 200 meters on foot from the sea. The area is characterized by architecture from the 1960s, a time when it was customary for every house to have its own yard and garden where vegetables were grown — and in many cases, are still grown today — for personal use: in the Dalmatian dialect, pomidori (tomatoes), kumpiri (potatoes), raštika (collard greens), bob (broad beans), čentruni (watermelons), cate (melons), cucumbers, biži (peas), and a variety of fragrant fresh natural delicacies and herbs. Many houses have retained their authentic charm to this day.
