This property has been in our family for five generations. It was purchased from a Venetian merchant, paid for in gold coins. It was used as a lookout tower, which in the Croatian language is known as Kula, for ships passing through the channel. The structure is over 400 years old and is protected by the Croatian Ministry of antiques which makes the structure untouchable from the outside. When it came to developing the land surrounding the tower, a tremendous amount of creativity and caution went into creating a concept that allowed for a new world functional living space whilst at the same time keeping the history alive.
My husband and I, along with our granddaughter are a team when it comes to managing the property. For the greater portion of the year we live in California and spend the summer months at our family home in Lumbarda. Lumbarda holds a special place in our heart and that is why we continue to return back to our roots year after year and we love sharing the authentic experiences we enjoy so much with our guests.
The home is located in the bay called Tatinja where the people are friendly and laid back. In our little neighborhood we have plenty of activities to choose from. There are three sand beaches and one pebble beach all in walking distance with water sports and rental services available. There are great family owned restaurants where you can eat fresh fish or try one of the best pizzerias in Croatia. There are plenty of cafes and wineries where you can hang out or go wine tasking at with family and friends while taking in the view of the Adriatic with boats going by, and the rolling hills of the Peljesac peninsula in the distance.
