Old town Vrbnik is a very romantic place. It became famous thanks to its Glagolitic heritage. Vrbnik is situated on 50 meters high cliff above the Adriatic Sea, in Kvarner region, on the island Krk. Vrbnik has population of only 1100 inhabitants. With its rich history, Vrbnik is well known and one of the oldest villages on the island Krk. Narrow streets prevail in Vrbnik, so it is not strange that the world’s narrowest and tiniest street is located in the old town. Vrbnik is also famous for nice white wine - "Vrbnicka Zlahtina" that grows only here, on the island Krk, in Vrbnik vineyards field. In Kvarner bays there is the best seafood in the world, no.1 are Kvarner Scampi, monkfish, seabream, dentex and incredible quality wild Adriatic tuna. The island Krk or "The Golden Island" has many unique features and it is a voyage through the time across the millennia of rich history. Krk is the most northerly island on the Mediterranean and is located in the Kvarner bay. Krk is the largest Adriatic island, with an area of 405.78 km2 and the most populous island with numerous towns and villages where a total of 20.000 inhabitants live. Krk has historically been a center of Croatian culture. Various forms of literature in the Glagolitic alphabet was created and in part preserved on the island of Krk.
