Lorraine and Martin Kearns opened this 3 star Guesthouse in 2003.We are married with 3 children.This business is family run from start to finish.We have a very old georgian house with restaurant and large private walled in gardens.

Townsend House Guest House & Tapas Restaurant is located in Birr Town just 200 metres from Birr Castle and 100 metres from Birr Theatre & Arts Centre. This 1900th century building has 10 bespoke decorated bedrooms,family rooms and a full restaurant with private gardens to enjoy. We have a full Tapas menu and diners can enjoy an international food and wine menu. During the summer season guests can enjoy our outdoor heated dining area with cocktail bar. We are the only 3 star Guesthouse in County Offaly registered with Failte Ireland. This is a family run business and we pride ourselves on our reviews. Visit Birr Castle Demesne with the Great Telescope,Science Centre,Formal Gardens and large Tree House. The Lough Boora Parklands where you can take walks or cycle the area. Clonmacnoise Monastic site,one of the oldest in Europe.
