Camp Hornbill is a community-led enterprise, set up in 2010 by residents of the village Kyari. It lies within the Pawalgarh Conservation Reserve (PCR). The PCR is part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve in Uttarakhand India. The camp is solely owned and managed by members and the youth of the local community. It was established with a vision to promote and encourage ecotourism in the village of Kyari. Camp Hornbill actively promotes nature conservation and rural development in the Corbett Tiger Reserve in collaboration with the forest department, local communities and members of the civil society. At Camp Hornbill our aim is to seed an alternative form of nature exploration that is responsible and contributes to conservation and community development. You will have a chance to chat with the locals, explore the area and take part in the surrounding activities. We offer guided nature walks with one of our informed guides. Each of us here at Camp Hornbill has an intimate relationship with the surrounding environment having spent our lives here in the village Kyari. We can inform you of local precautions and answer any question regarding conservation, local flora and fauna.

Set amidst nature by the side of a lovely river, our home is a perfect place for anyone looking to experience the peaceful serenity of Forest & has easy access to all important land marks, trek trails around Corbett. Our Properties forested nature is best enjoyed while staying in our spacious mud cottages. Each cottage is hand crafted, built by our very own team and is complete with an attached Veranda & bath (western style toilet). The spacious cozy veranda outside each cottage is ideal to enjoy your tea and coffee. You can also relax outdoors next to our pond, read a book or have conversations in the common area “Chaupal Hut”, chill in conveniently placed hammocks & outdoor seating areas. Our buffet offers three traditional meals per day, prepared with great care and locally sourced ingredients. * Jio and BSNL work best here. We offer free Wi-Fi across the property, including in all cottages. Due to dense jungle cover, a few cottages may have slightly weaker signal, but the connection is strong in the common area, which doubles as our cozy library and dining space. * Being a wilderness property, our natural friends’ bugs and insects are aplenty but we have taken adequate measures in rooms to keep them away. Yet few persistent once at times get in which if bothers you can be removed by informing our helpful staff.

Kyari is a quaint village tucked away in the buffer zone of Jim Corbett National Park. Our camp is just steps away from untamed wilderness. The area is abundant in wildlife and you may just hear a tigers roar or elephants call in the surrounding jungles. Birdwatching is popular as we are frequently visited by all 3 species of Hornbills found in this landscape, as well as many other species of birds. Guided hikes, tours of the local village, bicycle rental and tours are also available, along with a body surfing experience in the nearby canal. Also you will find an adventure park and zipline opportunity next door which is sure to get your adrenaline pumping.
