Forest Side Farm is an owner-managed organic farm house homestay in Kotabagh, Nainital district, Uttarakhand — 5 hours from Delhi NCR via an easy, flat drive with no hill-station traffic, 1 hour from Nainital, and 40 minutes from Jim Corbett. Set on a 2.5-acre organic food forest, the property hosts a maximum of six guests at any time across a two-bedroom suite and an independent cottage, ensuring genuine privacy rather than a shared resort experience. Meals are freshly cooked from the farm's own produce exclusively for overnight guests — wood-fired pizza, hummus and pita, slow-cooked Kumaoni Mutton Handi, and traditional Kumaoni thalis. The property is personally hosted by owner Hemanshu, a former corporate professional now farming, baking, and practicing woodworking and pyrography on-site. I live on the property and am genuinely present throughout your stay — not just for check-in and check-out. I'm usually around for meals, happy to share the story of how this farm came to be (it started with a phone call from my sister in 2011, long before I imagined leaving my corporate career for it), walk you through the food forest, or talk through what's currently growing and what's on the menu that day. If you're curious about the woodworking or pyrography pieces around the property, I'm glad to talk about those too. That said, I'm equally happy to give you space — if you'd rather have a quiet, uninterrupted stay, just let me know and I'll keep my distance. Our cook, Harish, also looks after your meals with real care — most guests mention his cooking specifically in their reviews."
Forest Side Farm is surrounded by dense Jim Corbett Forest Range, which is heavily populated with wild animals and variety of birds, green forested mountains, fruit orchards and vast expanse of farm land. Forest Side Farm is roughly 4 to 5 hours from Delhi-NCR, reached via flat, largely traffic-free roads rather than winding hill routes. Once here, Jim Corbett National Park is about 40 minutes away, and Nainital is about an hour away — close enough for a day trip to either, with a quiet evening back at the farm. Kotabagh itself sits within Nainital district but away from the crowds of both Nainital town and the main Jim Corbett tourist belt."
