Me and my husband run Guesthouse Lyngholt with our 3 daughters since 1999. We have been gradually renovating the property ever since. Our business has been slowly growing for the last few years. We all have extra jobs besides the guesthouse, we live at a sheep farm about 25 km outside of Thorshofn, we have about 500 sheep. Because of our extra jobs,we are not always at the guesthouse, but our guests can reach us by phone at all times. (phone at the front desk). Some of our guests find it strange that the house is sometimes unlocked and nobody´s there, but this has worked for us for the last 20 years and people are usually very understanding when we explain why. We are hoping to expand our business so that one day it can be our main job, that is our dream. Thorshofn is not a typical tourist area yet so you can expect to find yourself in peace and quiet while travelling the area. You can actually get out of the car and enjoy listening to the silence :)

Our guesthouses are meant to feel like home, no two rooms look the same. Kitchen facility is good, guests can use spices and various kitchen appliances which are in the kitchen. Good wi-fi, towels included and coffee and tea for free in the kitchen. During the summer we offer breakfast included in the accommodation. In addition to the guesthouses we offer two small houses for rent close to the guesthouse. The larger one is called Thorshamar, it can accommodate up to 6 people in two bedrooms and a sofa in the living room. The house is located near the beach in the middle of the village. In the booking system you´ll find it under "Two bedroom apartment with ocean view". The address for Thorshamar is Fjardarvegur 12. When driving into the village, you will soon see three small white houses on your left (the sea side) Thorshamar is the one in the middle. The smaller one is called Cave, it can accommodate 2 people. It is located only few steps from the main guesthouse. The house was built in summer 2018 and is very modern looking.

There are many beautiful hiking routs in our neighborhood, both in Langanes and Raudanes. This is an ideal location for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Lots of deserted farms in Langanes, very interesting to explore. Not much traffic (not yet anyway) you may find yourself alone from time to time and no other tourist in sight :) Very relaxing and rare. The village itself is quite small and everybody knows everybody there. You could call it a typical icelandic fishing village where everybody is going about their business as usual.
