Set in Sauðárkrókur, Grand-Inn Bar and Bed is a historic guest house that offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden and a terrace. Boasting a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. Guests can enjoy quiet street views. An old, but recently totally renovated two storey house. Originally the home of the local Pharmacist. The Pharmacy itself was next door, where the Bar is now located. Opening hours at the bar vary - especially during these crazy times, best to check with Sigga or Árni. The property was previously Micro Bar and Bed but has been renamed Grand-Inn Bar and Bed. This is a 5-room property without receptionTherefore, you may have to call the Icelandic telephone number in order to receive check-in information. However, we will do our best to try and meet and greet you whenever possible. Please note that there is one shower and 2 wc´s between the 5 rooms, as a result, we offer our guests free entry to the local swimming pool. We are trying to work out a way to incorporate a second bathroom but in such an old house this is proving tricky.
We (the 2 owners) are both born in Sauðárkrókur but Sigga grew up in Australia and has also worked in Germany, Árni was previously at sea working as a deck hand on a fishing trawler and more recently as a cook on a line boat. We bought the bar and guesthouse in December 2017 and have enjoyed every minute of it! The bars opening times vary - please check our facebook page for details.
We are located in the old part of the town. Across the road is the restaurant Kaffi Krók and the Hard Wok Café, on the same side to the north is Grána. The bakery is on the same side of the road about 100m to the south. The swimming pool is within walking distance. Sauðárkrókur is a good base to go river rafting, horse riding, playing golf, Island sailing, trecking, bird watching, or even skiing in winter. Let us know if you have any special interests and we will do our best to inform you of what is on offer in or around Skagafjordur.
