Miðsitja is a horse breeding / training farm in beautiful Skagafjöður. We are two families that live here and run the farm. Our guesthouse stands between the to family houses - but is still very private - with panorama view over most of Skagafjörður and the river Héraðsvötn. You will see our horses close by - specially during summer time, you are welcome to visit the stable before you leave. The rooms are comfortable, with big windows and a little terras in front of each of the three rooms with panorama view. Private bathroom with shower and towels, water cattle & free coffee/tea, small breakfast - just so you do not leave us on a empty stomach, free WiFI, quiet surrounding - and lots and lots of fresh air. You will see us at the farm going about our work in the stable or riding our horses past your door - We are quite relaxed and very fond of our little farm and the lifestyle we lead in the country side. We are happy to welcome you and you'll get an extra point if you show interest in our beautiful horses :-)
At Miðsitja you are in the hart of Skagafjörður. From your window you can see the river Héraðsvötn and on the other side of the river the mountan Mælifell (1138 m) - some like to hike up there, takes about 4 hours. At Varmahlíð there is a small food store and two restaurants, one at the Hótel Varmahlíð and the other in the store. At Varmahlíð there is also a very local and very nice swimming pool and a handcraft shop. It will take you 20 min to drive to Glaumbær museum and 40 min. to Sauðárkrókur town or Hofsós town (don't miss the swimming pool at Hofsós). Akureyri, the capital of the North, is only an hour away.
