Stöð-inn is a simple, budget-friendly guesthouse in the heart of Stöðvarfjörður, one of East Iceland's smallest fishing villages. The building itself has a story: after suffering serious damage, it was brought back to life by locals with the shared goal of setting up a small village shop and creating a community space. We're still working on it, growing the project toward, and beyond, you'll find today: a guesthouse, a local café, and a tiny little corner store, all under one roof. The rooms are simple and comfortable, each with its own en suite bathroom. We keep things unpretentious and warm, as this is a working village house, and a living project, instead of a hotel chain. Breakfast isn't included automatically , but breakfast boxes with sandwiches and more can be arranged in advance through Kimi's coffee house and sourdough production, called Brauðdagar (Breaddays). Hi, we're Kimi and Eva! Kimi runs the kitchen and sourdough production, Brauðdagar, filling the house with the smell of fresh bread most mornings. Eva, an Anthropologist by day, handles the day-to-day running of the guesthouse, bookings, bookkeeping - all the boring stuff. Together with friends and neighbours, we took on a damaged old building and turned it into Stöð-inn — part guesthouse, part café, part village shop. We love meeting travellers passing through and sharing a bit of village life with them.

Stöðvarfjörður is a tiny fishing village of around 180 people, tucked between steep mountains and a quiet fjord on Iceland's east coast, right along the Ring Road route between Egilsstaðir and the south coast. It's a peaceful stop for those craving something slower than the busier tourist towns — just the sound of the sea, the mountains, and village life. A short walk away is the famous Petra's stone and mineral collection, a beloved and unusual museum, as well as the local art residency Fish Factory and our own coffee roastery, Kaffi Kvörn. In summer, the village hosts a market with hand-crafted goods, including the beautiful wool sweaters we all know and love. The harbour, small shops, walking, and hiking paths are all within walking distance. Come for a night, and you'll get a real feel for East Iceland's quieter side.
