Our farm is located 12 kilometers away from the Town Egilsstaðir. We breed horses and also we have Cottages for accommodation. It´s a quiet place and you will hear the birds in the night over the summer time, or, over the winter time there are excellent conditions to see the Northern lights (Aurora). We try to keep it simple with our guests and give them all the privacy they need.
We are a married couple, Einar and Melanie. We have 3 children, two younger daughters 15 and 12 years old, and a grown up son. We live on our small farm ourselves along with 4 cottages for accomodation for guests. We are both professionals, breeding and training horses is the hobby from the whole family. We are keeping our riding horses on the fields around the farm during the summer. Of course there is a dog named "Mýra" living with us.
In our area (20 minutes by car) we have the great Hengifoss, which is Icelands second highest waterfall. Hengifoss is 197 meters high and the hike up will take you about 40-50 minutes. Many of our guests choose to go there. Within 1 hour drive we recommend to visit Borgarfjörður eystri with its puffins and elves stories. Ofcourse you can ask us for directions to any place nearby or travel tips.
