The neighbourhood is wonderfully peaceful, a true haven for nature lovers. Súðavík is an authentic fishing village with a small, still-active harbour where you can watch the boats come in with the day's catch. At the end of the street, Raggagarður offers a children's playground and a barbecue area, perfect for families or for enjoying an evening outdoors. Just a short walk from the house, the Arctic Fox Centre (Melrakkasetur Íslands) offers a one-of-a-kind exhibition on Iceland's iconic Arctic fox, along with an enclosure home to rescued foxes. A small shop, a post office and a petrol station complete the village's amenities. Just 15 minutes by car, Ísafjörður, the capital of the Westfjords, offers restaurants, cafés, shops and a rich maritime heritage to explore. All around, Álftafjörður bay and the surrounding mountains make for a perfect playground for hiking, birdwatching and landscape photography — far from the crowds, in a still-unspoiled corner of Iceland.
