Featuring a private pier and an impressive sea view, Tungulending Guest house is located 8.1 mi outside of Húsavík village. Relaxation options include enjoying a drink at the bar. The rooms feature a timber interior and have several shared toilets and two bathrooms (shared bathroom facilities). Free WiFi access is available. Guests can enjoy the panoramic view of Skjálfandi Bay. Guests can engage in various activities, such as whale watching, fishing and hiking. In the afternoon we offer a café service. We ask for your understanding that we can no longer make the excellent kitchen available to guests, as stated in previous reviews.

Company info

We are both 37 years old and live with our three children not far from Tungulending. The family includes two Salukis (Persian greyhounds) named "Klara" and "Heidi"

Property info

The house called Tungulending was first used to process lumpfish caviar. It was build in the 1950s and was in operation until the year 2000. It has a long history in icelandic fishing culture and still today it is possible to feel the former importance of this place. In 2013 Martin Varga from Germany had decided to rebuild the house, but keep the original atmosphere. Tungulending is located in a very special surrounding. With the pier and old harbor area it still reminds the old days and past use of the building. In 2024, we, Thessa and Chris - also from Germany - decided to take over the guesthouse. We are happy to take on this task and to reopen this special place for many people.

Neighborhood info

Amazing surrounding. Pure nature. It is very special to find a place for a holiday house so close to the North Atlantic Ocean. Tungulending is in a remote area, it feels like being in an untouched bubble. Unique, peaceful and friendly. A place people remember, not just stay
