Vogafjós Farm Resort is a family‑run property on the eastern shore of Lake Mývatn. The guest house is located in a quiet and unique natural environment, surrounded by lava rocks and birch trees. It is a perfect location for northern lights scouting. All our rooms offer a patio, a private bathroom, and free Wi‑Fi. A traditional Icelandic breakfast is served at Vogafjós Farm Restaurant, just a 3‑minute walk from the guest house. The farm‑to‑table restaurant is located in a cowshed. While enjoying your meal, you can watch our cows being milked or enjoy the amazing view of Lake Mývatn. We focus on traditional Icelandic and local cuisine, using our own products as much as possible (e.g., smoked lamb, smoked trout, homemade cheeses, Geysir bread, and meat from our own farm). Guests can relax in a hot tub located at the guest house or in the geothermal waters of the Earth Lagoon Mývatn, available nearby for an additional fee. The village center of Reykjahlíð is located 1.5 mi from the guest house.

I love to travel and see new things. I enjoy good, fresh food and that is the reason for why we focus on fresh, healthy and local food. As I am a farmer I love my animals.

Property info

Our property is originally a dairy farm, owned by the same family for more than 100 years. Some years ago we decided to open the farm for guests. They can experience the real farm life by watching our cows through a glass window from the restaurant and even try warm and fresh milk during milking time. We specialize in homemade and local products in our restaurant - from farm to table. The family run guesthouse, warm and cosy, was built in 2005. The guesthouse consists of two loghouses with ten rooms each and one loghouse with four superior king double rooms, all with private bathrooms - a total of 24 rooms. The rooms are classical and well furnished. They are designed to let our guests feel relaxed while enjoying the unique natural environment that lake Mývatn area offers. Traditional Icelandic breakfast is served in our Vogafjós restaurant, a 3-minute walk from the guesthouse. There is a free wifi in all rooms and public areas. We are open all year round.

Our neighbourhood has a lot to offer. Unique nature, tranquility, rich birdlife, geothermal areas, volcanoes and much, much more. In our area you can always find some activities that suit you. Super-Jeep tours, dogsledding, bike tours, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing and hiking are only examples of what you can do in the lake Mývatn area. It is also amazing to travel to the highlands during the summertime and the lake Mývatn area is an ideal place to depart from.
