Grosseto is the capital of the Maremma region and is located a few kilometres from the sea, in the plain crossed by the river Ombrone. The old town centre is very characteristic and is enclosed by the ancient Medici walls that have maintained their original appearance. A stone's throw from the accommodation there are food shops, bars, a theatre, various kinds of shops and above all it is equipped with all tourist services and public transport. There are numerous seaside resorts a few kilometres from Grosseto; the closest (about 12 km) is Marina di Grosseto, but there are others nearby such as Principina a Mare, Castiglione della Pescaia and as far as Punta Ala.
