Borgocapo is a place where earth is made to be felt through the walls of the house which are built in raw earth and straw. The technique used is a traditional technique of the region called “massone”, or cob in English. The material used is local material found on site. In the workshop on site the various techniques of raw earth building are taught, under the shade of the courtyard, while enjoying the products of the olive grove and the vegetable patch. The rooms of the house (which we call “The Big Mother” tell stories through their furniture. That furniture was used by our mothers and grandmothers and the rooms are dedicated to these women.
Architect, since the 1980’s he has been interested in raw earth building and is the head and heart of Borgocapo.
You can discover the territory of the Parco della Terra through various organized routs or you can find your own way around. There is a specialized library on Abruzzo at your disposal. You can also find local arts and crafts and there are guides to help you discover biodynamic products from the farms in the area.
