Getting around without a car is easy: the pier at Francavilla al Mare marks the start of a cycle path running along the coast to Ortona and the Costa dei Trabocchi — a great ride through nature, past the famous trabocchi fishing platforms. By train, Pescara is 15 minutes away, with its historic centre and the Ponte del Mare bridge. Inland, the Majella mountains and villages like Guardiagrele — one of Italy's official "most beautiful villages" — are under an hour by car. Pescara airport is about a 15-minute drive.
