Trapani (Tràpani in Sicilian) is a town of 70.635 inhabitants, the capital of the homonymous province. In reality, the urban conurbation has more than 100 thousand inhabitants, as a part of the city, the populous village of Casa Santa, is part of the municipality of Erice. It is located in the western part of Sicily and is located on the same promontory of the ancient Drepanon, a Greek word meaning sickle, given the shape of the promontory on which the city stands. It is also called "City of the two seas" because the coastal area north of the city is washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea while the west of the city is washed by the Mediterranean Sea. Over time a thriving economic activity linked to the extraction and trade of salt, taking advantage of its natural position, stretching out over the Mediterranean and its famous port that once functioned as a commercial outlet for the most famous Eryx located on the mountain overlooking Trapani. Other flourishing activities were and still are fishing, especially tuna for which the classic technique of slaughter was used in various tonnare sites in the city and its surroundings (San Giuliano, San Cusumano, Isola di Formica) and in the province (F
