In the heart of the island of Ortigia in the quaint Graziella district behind the historic market, we have on the ground floor a courtyard of a newly renovated studio, consisting of a single room with night and day area. The masonry kitchen is stocked with pots and crockery, the bathroom with a set of towels and hairdryers, the double bed is equipped with sheets and blankets; furthermore the environment is air conditioned, equipped with free internet connection, clothesline in the courtyard and TV and also an outdoor table where you can relax in the summer.

One of the most striking neighborhoods of the island of Ortigia, the historical center of Siracusa, is the Graziella. The name of the neighborhood, comes from fishermen, residents of the area, devoted to Our Lady of Grace. Before embarking, it is said that the fishermen gathered in the square of Graziella to pray before the statue of the Madonna to ask for protection during their stay at sea.   The neighborhood is affected by Arab influence. The wreckage, the streets, the squares, the entire architectural system is messy and original. After the 1963 earthquake, the neighborhood was rebuilt, but the earthquake rubble was not taken away, but crowded at the sides of the road, for this reason some wreckage are at a lower level than the main street squares. Most probably, the temple of Apollo, in view of its proximity to the Graziella district, was in the 10th century an Arab mosque, perhaps the most important in the city.
