Santa Elisabetta is a small town with a population of 2500 inhabitants and is extremely safe like most towns in Sicily. The town was founded in 1620 with a charming old town piazza. Key sites of historical significance include: Mother Church of S.Stefano,characterised by a beautiful facade made with local stone. Mount Guastanella has an interesting archeological site on the summit with breathtaking views of Sicily at the top. S. Elisabetta neighbours the town of Raffadali, which is well known across Italy for producing the highest quality Sicilian pastries and gelato. The town is roughly 20km away from one of Sicily's most important heritage sites in Agrigento, namely the Valley of the Temples, and is the same distance to the Mediterranean Sea. One can enjoy miles and miles of unspoiled beaches, there one can also visit the breathtakingly beautiful Turkish steps. ( Scala dei Turchi)
