Sabina is an area rich in both religious and natural history, with its connection to St. Francis and several places of interest, such as the Sanctuary of Greccio (where St. Francis created the first nativity scene) and the Monastery of Santa Scolastica. The region is also home to medieval villages, abbeys, and a wealth of historical, cultural, and natural attractions. We recommend visiting the Farfa River (swimmable), the Farfa Gorges, the Tiber Oasis, the Nazzano Tevere-Farfa Nature Reserve, Mount Tancia and the Hermitage of San Michele, the Devil’s Pools, Mount Soratte, and the Hermitage of San Silvestro. With a few extra kilometers, you can reach Lake Turano, the Vallecchia Waterfalls, Cotilia Thermal Baths, and the city of Rieti itself. The Poggio Mirteto Scalo train station is just 5 minutes from the apartment. Trains are frequent and take you directly to Rome city center in 50 minutes. The train also stops at Rome Tiburtina station and has a terminal at Rome Fiumicino Airport.
