Perched atop its own private hill, this stunning three-bedroom villa is surrounded by rolling grain fields and offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the Lucanian countryside. At the center of the property is a magnificent heated infinity-edge pool, where you can relax while enjoying sweeping vistas and unforgettable sunsets. The villa is thoughtfully designed on a single level, with spacious rooms featuring marble floors, soaring vaulted ceilings in warm Pugliese yellow stone, and elegant French doors that open directly onto the pool deck, shaded stone loggias, and expansive terraces. The villa comfortably accommodates up to six guests across three bedrooms. Two bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms, while the third bedroom includes two full beds. All bedrooms and the living area are equipped with new split air-conditioning units installed in 2025. The bathrooms feature Philippe Starck and Grohe fittings with large walk-in showers, while the fully equipped chef’s kitchen includes custom LadyCucine cabinetry and Siemens appliances. Despite its peaceful countryside setting, the villa is just 14 km from the historic center of Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient cave dwellings and exceptional restaurants. The sandy beaches of the Ionian Sea are about 30 minutes away, and many of Puglia’s most charming towns — including Alberobello, Ostuni, and Monopoli — are within about an hour. Bari International Airport is less than an hour away.
I am a chiropractor living and working in New York City. My parents grew up in Southern Italy, immigrated to New York in the 1960s, and eventually returned to their village in 1996. Because of this connection, I have been traveling to Italy for most of my life and always dreamed of owning a home here. When I discovered this villa, I immediately fell in love with it. I truly believe it is a special place where guests can relax, recharge, and experience the beauty and dolce vita of Southern Italy. In addition to this property, I also own rental homes in Miami Beach and New York City. I genuinely enjoy the hospitality side of hosting and take great pleasure in helping guests make the most of their vacation and create memorable experiences.
Matera is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was named the European Capital of Culture in 2019. Believed to have been continuously inhabited since the Palaeolithic period (10th millennium BC), it is considered one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the world. Today the city is famous for its extraordinary cave dwellings known as the Sassi, which have been transformed into beautiful homes, boutique hotels, restaurants, and cultural spaces. Matera has also become a popular filming location, most recently featured in the 2021 James Bond film No Time to Die. Despite its growing international recognition, the surrounding countryside remains peaceful and unspoiled, offering a rare combination of historic culture, natural beauty, and authentic Southern Italian life. The neighboring region of Puglia has experienced a major boom in tourism in recent years and is renowned for its charming historic towns, olive groves, and some of the most beautiful beaches in Italy. One of the region’s most distinctive sights is the trullo—a traditional Puglian dry-stone hut with a conical roof that you will see throughout the countryside. Within 30 minutes you can reach the sandy beaches of the Ionian Sea, while the dramatic rocky coastline of the Adriatic Sea lies to the east. Many of Puglia’s most famous towns—including Alberobello, Ostuni, and Monopoli—are all within about an hour’s drive. You can also visit Palazzo Margherita, the elegant hotel owned by filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, located in the nearby town of Bernalda, less than 20 minutes away. Bari International Airport is conveniently located less than an hour from the villa, making travel to and from the property easy.
