Hello, please call me Ben! We are running a licensed guesthouse in Kyoto, Japan. I am originally from California but have been living in Japan for over 14 years (mostly Tokyo) and have traveled numerous times to all 47 prefectures in Japan. During my first visit to Japan over 18 years ago, it was very difficult to get around and communicate. I hope that we can help you plan your trip so you may enjoy Japan as much as possible. Cozy and modern apartment style units in the heart of Kyoto. All our apartments are private units that have their own private toilet, bathroom, and kitchen stocked with cookware, dishes, and utensils. The units are furnished with a TV, microwave, kettle, fridge & freezer, dining table and chairs so you can comfortably cook, eat, and relax. Each unit also has a washing machine (detergent provided). The shower room has a 'dry' feature so you may hang clothes in there to dry. Our larger rooms recommended for groups are the Superior Family Room, Deluxe Family Suite, and Deluxe Family Room. The Standard Quadruple Room and Standard Family Room are more economical, yet have all the same amenities the other rooms have. We have condiments (salt, pepper, cooking oil) that you may borrow from our reception area. Free tea and coffee is available as well.

Our guesthouse is part of the Kitano Shopping Arcade. Enjoy mochi from a 330-year old shop; have local dining experiences that are less crowded and much more reasonable than eating downtown. Local fruit and vegetable stands provide fresh & delicious produce if you decide to cook and eat-in. Condiments (salt, pepper, cooking oil) that you may borrow. Supermarket is one minute away; convenience store and drug store are about two minutes. Rental bicycles are available from across the street. We have an excellent list of highly recommended restaurants that I have all personally tried myself. "Kitano Tenmangu Shrine" is five minutes away on foot. Kinkakuji Golden Pavillion, Nijo castle, and Imperial Palace are 30 minutes away on foot, or within 10-15 minutes via bus. Kawaramachi and Gion are about 20 minutes away by bus. The retro "Randen" train station is 12 minutes away on foot. Enjoy a scenic ride, which takes you directly to Arashiyama, where the famous bamboo forest located. Many bus stops are located within a 5-minute walk from the guesthouse. Buses running from the Sen-bon-naka-dachi-uri bus stop will take you to most major sightseeing spots.
