NekoChigura is a renovation of an old building built during the Taisho era, preserving the atmosphere of the traditional houses of that time. Inside, it offers a spacious 82㎡ three-room apartment with a dining kitchen. The neighbourhood has many long-established restaurants, allowing visitors to experience both the sightseeing and living aspects of Matsumoto. It is about a 15-minute walk from Matsumoto Station, located just past the Nakamachi Street with its old townscape. It is almost in the centre, within a 10-minute walk to tourist attractions such as Matsumoto Castle, Matsumoto City Art Museum and the museums. The Aeon Mall Matsumoto and Matsumoto City Art Museum are about 600 metres away, roughly a five-minute walk, making shopping and sightseeing convenient. In winter, Hakuba Ski Resort is 60 km away, about 90 minutes by car. In spring and summer, Kamikochi is recommended, 32 km from the accommodation. Lake Suwa is 33 km away, around 50 minutes by car. At Neko Chigura's entrance, there is also a water jar with Matsumoto’s spring water, and sometimes local cats come to drink. If you meet the cats, please watch over them gently. ‘NekoChigura’ means a warm hideaway for cats. Please enjoy walking around Matsumoto with the spirit of a travelling cat.
