In my twenties, I traveled extensively across Southeast Asia as a backpacker, staying in guesthouses in many different regions. Among them, Khao San Road in Bangkok left a particularly strong impression. In a time before the internet became a common source of travel information, it served as a hub where travelers of diverse nationalities and backgrounds naturally gathered to exchange firsthand knowledge and experiences. This experience inspired me to create a similar place where people could gather, share information and ideas, and connect with one another. That vision eventually led to the creation of Fuji Base Gotemba. Fuji Base Gotemba aims to be a place where travelers, local residents, aspiring entrepreneurs, and people looking to try new food or creative projects can come together naturally. Through conversation and interaction, new ideas and initiatives are born. Our goal is to create such a “third place” that exists beyond home and work. Previously, I worked as a firefighter and was involved in disaster prevention and mountain-related operations. Moving forward, I plan to use Fuji Base Gotemba as a base for guiding activities that allow visitors to experience the magnificent natural environment surrounding Mount Fuji.
