Meet Your Host: From Education to Revitalizing Heritage After graduating from Tokyo University of Agriculture and spending a year working in the field of education, I found myself drawn to a new challenge—one that led me to the majestic mountains of Nagano. Captivated by the profound silence and the grandeur of the local landscape, I decided to leave the bustle of the city behind. It was the connections I made during a local internship that gave me the courage to take this leap. Alongside a dedicated partner, I launched a project focused on revitalizing vacant traditional houses (akiya) to breathe new life into the community. Our Journey & Vision copen is still a work in progress, and every day is a journey of trial and error as we strive to create the perfect space. My goal is not just to provide a place to sleep, but to offer a sanctuary where guests can truly unwind. By blending my knowledge of architecture and interior design with the unique needs of the region, I aim to create an environment that feels both refined and deeply comfortable. My Passions When I’m not working on the house, I am usually: Behind the lens: I’m currently studying photography to better capture and share the hidden beauty of Japan. In the kitchen: I love baking sweets and exploring how simple treats can make a stay more special. I look forward to welcoming you to this quiet corner of Nagano and sharing the peaceful atmosphere we’ve built here.

Copen: A Dialogue Between Danish Design and Japanese Heritage Copen is a renovated traditional Japanese house (kominka) born from a unique design philosophy: the quiet minimalism of Copenhagen meets the timeless comfort of Japan. Here, tatami mats, kotatsu (heated tables), and raised koagari floors coexist within a space defined by a refined palette of soft greys and deep charcoal. By stripping away the unnecessary, we have preserved the warmth of the original wooden structure while creating a sanctuary where you can truly sense the flow of light, sound, and time. The Space 1F Living Area & Koagari: A bright, airy space with high ceilings and soft natural light. This room features a traditional kotatsu for cozy gatherings and a raised koagari nook with two beds—perfect for lounging or a restful sleep. Kitchen & Dining: A functional beauty featuring a wooden dining table and a kitchen with a counter. Fully equipped with a fridge, microwave, and basic seasonings, the layout invites conversation while you cook. 2F Lounge: A serene, low-saturated retreat featuring an L-shaped sofa and indoor greenery. With its own sink and vanity, this floor offers a self-contained sense of calm. 2F Bedroom: A minimalist sanctuary with one bed and one set of traditional futon bedding. The interior is designed with "yohaku" (intentional empty space) to help you recharge in silence. Amenities & Location Modern Comforts: High-speed Wi-Fi, full air conditioning/heating, laundry (washer & dryer), and a non-smoking environment throughout. Extended Stays: Perfectly suited for long-term stays or remote work. Convenience: A 6-minute walk from the station and 5 minutes from local grocery stores (Delicia) and a 7-Eleven. Experience the intimacy of a boutique hotel with the soul of a Japanese home. We invite you to slow down and savor the stillness.
