Welcome to our 'laid back hostel vibe' sharehouse where every traveler feels at home, welcome & included in the last afternoon rays of sunshine from the terrace, an evening BBque/fire, hanging out, star gazing, or prepping food. We are located a short distance up the hill where the end of the road meets the citrus orchards. Traditional rural homes are separated by light glass or cloth sliding screens, thus rooms are visually separated but not sound proof. This is a spacious property composed of the main home, an outer 2nd toilet/shower room, a barn/storage, gardens with seasonal fruit trees, 3 outdoor sitting areas, gorgeous sunrises & inspiring views. The 3 private bedrooms share the kitchen, living room, 2 toilets, 2 showers & outdoor spaces. Room #3 next to the kitchen can sleep 2 adults on a double western bed & a child on a floor mattress. Ac/heating are extra. Quiet time in the house/kitchen is at 10pm. The middle room #2 has 2 twin western beds & opens onto the living room & views to the garden, sea & mountains. The family room #1 consists of two adjoining rooms & comfortably fits 3 people in each room on futons. This room has lovely views, sitting area & even a private entrance from the terrace. Staff sleep in the cottage at the driveway entrance & will be onsite during your stay. All rooms have fans when warm & blankets when cold. The kitchen is spacious & fully equipped. Leftover foods & scraps are composted & glass, plastics, etc are cleaned & recycled. Please bring your 'throwaways' to the sorting area or kitchen. Generally the kitchen is to be used for simple meals or food prep as most guests are coming by bicycle & when eating here need easy access so they can get to bed early & rest up for the next days ride. You are invited to eat in the kitchen or anywhere outside. Please no food in the rooms. And let's keep it friendly leaving political, religious & judgemental talk & thoughts to ourselves. The entire property is also available for groups.
People remember me from Costa Rica rescuing dogs, participating in ocean swims & hiking Mt. Chirripo. But what I am most proud of is the work I did bringing vounteers & making educational summer camps for the immigrant children at my adopted rural border village of Cano Negro. Ask me about opportunites there if you are thinking of going. I am also passionate about being mindful, living sustainably, being conscious & responsible about my carbon footprint, my effect on the local population & creating harmonious & healing spaces wherever I plant my roots. I choose to live simply & focus on eating healthy foods, having positive thoughts & moving my body as much as possible. The island allows me to pursue my cycling, hiking & also swimming, both in the pool & the sea. Culture & languages have always interested me & for 14 years I hosted international high school students in Costa Rica. I see a similar role on Omishima supporting cyclists & pilgrims from around the world as they pursue their dreams in Japan.
End of the road property with views of the Seto Sea, Tatara Bridge & mountains. This is a beautiful neighborhood of well maintained & lived in traditional homes, temples & shrines. Walk, bike & hike right from our property through bamboo forests, citrus orchards, across the hills or down to the seaside. Two resevoirs within 300m attract herons & hawks, racoon dogs, deer & even wild boar. Share this unique & spacious property of 4 bdrms, living rm, kitchen, 2 toilets & 2 showers with other mindful travelers. Enjoy the gardens, 3 separate outdoor seating areas, star gazing & frequent night BBQ or fire pit with other guests. Here you can truuly savor the peace, quiet & magic of Japan.
