Just 300 metres from Toba Station, Japanese-style inn Kaigetsu features comfortable rooms. The hotel offers public baths, a restaurant and free wi-fi in public areas. Kaigetsu – A Small Inn with a Long Story Kaigetsu is a small family-run inn with a history dating back to 1887. I am the fifth-generation hostess, continuing what my family started many years ago. Before opening the inn, our family worked in the shipbuilding industry, which was once an important part of this coastal community. The building today is simple and made of concrete, not a historic traditional structure. However, the spirit of the inn has continued through the generations. What has remained the same is the warm atmosphere and the connection with the local community. Many guests say that staying here feels less like a hotel and more like visiting a Japanese home. In addition to running the inn, we also organize eco-tours that introduce the nature and culture of the Ise-Shima area. Guests can visit small fishing villages, learn about the traditions of the Ama women divers, and experience the culture connected to Ise Grand Shrine. Kaigetsu is not a luxury hotel, but a place where travelers can experience the warmth of everyday life in Japan.

Rather than formal hotel-style service, we offer a simple, friendly stay that feels more like visiting a Japanese home. Many guests enjoy the calm environment and the chance to experience everyday life in Japan. The heart of Kaigetsu is the hostess, my mother, who warmly welcomes guests and creates the unique atmosphere of the inn. When guests depart, she prepares homemade rice balls as a small farewell gift for their journey — a tradition that many travelers remember fondly. Please note that the building has four floors and no elevator, so guests will need to use the stairs. Staff will gladly help if you have luggage. If you enjoy authentic local experiences, meeting people, and staying somewhere with character, Kaigetsu may be the perfect place for your trip.

Next to Kaigetsu, there is a local experience tour "Kaito Yumin Culb". From spring to autumn, we recommend a kayaking tour to a small deserted island where Ama (a traditional fishing method with a history of 3000 years in Japan. Woman diver) is hidden. And I also recommend fishing trips with local fishermen. You can also order dinner with fish caught at Kaigetsu. (Please order a regular dinner. If you can catch it, you can cook the fish with it. You have always been able to catch it, but if you can't, you can have dinner.) There are many recommended guided tours for each season. A casual experience where you crawl on the surface of Toba Sawara (Spanish mackerel) yourself and make Tataki, a type of sashimi. Explore Fisheries Island in Japan is a tour that goes to Toshi Island, where fishing is the most active in Toba, leaving the townscape of a society that is not a car, and where special customs continue in addition to Ama.
