Ideal for a small family or couple seeking to experience the tranquility and quiet charm of Kyoto living. Tucked within a calm residential neighborhood away from busy tourist areas, the home is inspired by Kyoto’s simple yet deeply meaningful way of life. Traditional details have been carefully restored and paired with subtly repurposed spaces, evolving this house into a home that feels both timeless and suited to modern living. As with many Kyo-machiyas, the structure preserves its original character, including thinner walls than contemporary buildings, so everyday neighbourhood sounds may be noticeable. The 2-storey house with stairs only accommodates up to 4 guests, with a queen bed in the master bedroom and up to 3 futons in the tatami room. A full kitchen, washer and dryer, tatami living room, Japanese-style bathtub, and a small patio complete the space.

Convenience stores, supermarkets, and local eateries are close by, and JR Tambaguchi Station is only a 5-minute walk away—just one stop from Kyoto Station.
