We are a bi-lingual, multicultural staff that is mostly Japanese and American, but we have short term staff from all over the world! We are not one of those normal hotels that sees you as just a body in a room, with us, you are family. We love food, beer, adventure and good conversation! We look forward to sharing our passions with you!

Property info

NORTHSTAR is a lodge in the Japanese Alps that focuses on outdoor adventure and education. We have a half Japanese, half Western feel to the hotel. We have an English speaking staff from all over the world, with Japanese style tatami mat rooms, and we serve food and beer from all over the world. Our location in the Alps is perfect for adventure. We specialize in Snowboarding and Mountain biking! We teach both and have rentals for both! Come stay with us and have an amazing adventure!!

Neighborhood info

Mount Norikura is the southern most mountain in the Northern Alps range. The 3026 meter peak of Mount Norikura over looks Norikura Kogen (highlands) which sit at around 1500 meters. This plateau is perfect for easy access nature. If you don't want to take a 5 hour hike to the peak, there is a bus that takes you all the way up there. But it always more fun to ride your road bike. It is the highest paved road in Japan, after all. But if you want to just stick close to the hotel, then there are 3 different waterfalls that are very easy to access. Renting a bike and exploring the Highlands area is always an option. For whole the family, Norikura Base offers tons of fun, including a high ropes course and zip line.
