We are a private bed & breakfast located in a rural district of Takayama, accommodating 1 group per night (max. 5 people). Guests have their private guest room and space, while we the owners reside in a separate section within the same building. We keep interactions minimum apart from check-in/ serving breakfast, but would be more than happy to provide recommendations/ information, and assist in offering a curated, personal travel experience for our guests. The building is a traditional Japanese house dating back to the Edo period, which we renovated with the help of an exceptionally skilled builder and architect of the Hida region. Our goal was to reimagine this building in a way that maintains its original features as much as possible. Utilizing original materials and locally obtained, rare timber, the result is a remarkable work of kominka (traditional Japanese house) renovation. The guest room consists of two tatami rooms, with high quality futon beds provided for each staying guest. It also has a private washroom with wash basin, lavatory, spacious shower, and laundry machine. Basic amenities include towels, toothbrush, hair dryer, shampoo etc., mini refrigerator, electric kettle, coffee/ tea bags, cups, air conditioners, and electric heater for winter seasons. No kitchen is available. The lounge hall is also part of the guest's space, where it can be used for relaxing. It is also an area of the house that displays some impressive traditional architectural features. Breakfast is served here, as well as dinner for guests who request in advance. We are a family of four, running a private bed and breakfast located in the countryside of Hida Takayama. Due to our mixed heritage we've always been involved with bridging Japan and other cultures, and through our experience we began envisioning of a place where we could directly serve as a link for people journeying to where we live. Our place is a realization of that goal, and we look forward to meeting travelers to this special part of Japan, and sharing experiences with them.

Utsue is a tranquil village situated in one of the small strips of valleys that extend north from the central town area of Takayama. It still maintains the nostalgic mood of rural Japan with sceneries of rice fields surrounded by nearby mountains. Locations of interest within the settlement include: Hot spring facility/ Nature park with waterfalls and hiking trail/ Curry and coffee shop/ Soba restaurant/ Folk craft store Town areas are also within nearby driving distances: Takayama: 20 min. by car Hida Furukawa: 15 min. by car Shirakawago: 50 min. by car Kamikochi: 1 hr. by car to bus terminal, 20 min. bus ride from terminal. Additionally, the Kokufu area in which we are located is known as a particularly historic area, with many tombs & temples/ shrines.
