Surrounded by vast Japanese gardens that change colours each season, ryugon provides traditional Japanese-style accommodation housed in historic buildings, some originally built in the 17th century. It boasts large hot spring baths and a lounge room with a Japanese hearth. Free Wi-Fi is available in the lobby. Featuring a seating area looking out to the garden, rooms are fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional futon bedding. Facilities like flat-screen TV and an electric kettle are provided. Guests can unwind with yukata robes on and sip green tea. ryugon Ryokan offers an antique book library, a gallery and a gift shop with local items. There are both indoor and open-air hot spring baths, and some of them can be reserved for private use. The property is a 20-minute walk from JR Muikamachi Station. Muikamachi Minami Ski Resort is a 10-minute drive away, and Hakkaisan Sake Brewery is a 15-minute drive from the property. Japanese dinner with local ingredients and specialities is served in the guest room. Rice is cooked in a traditional way with an iron pot.
