The city Ayabe is loacated in northern Kyoto pref. Only one hour train ride gives you totally different view. It is really good getawaay from hustle and bustle of Kyoto city. There are untouched nature, authebtic Japanese life. Also it is good place to meet local and new migrant from city. The house itself used to be house that Locals lived (now they live in other cities around here). and we bought it from them, then renovated by ourselves to open guest house. Besides house, there are vegetable field and rice paddy. You can pick up seasonal vegetable and cook them.and at night if it is fine day, you can see millions of star. Around house, it is really old traditional scenery left here. and clear stream running through.you can read books, sensing nature surrounding. At last, about goods and amenities, in kitchen, there are frying pan and pods, normal seasonings. In toilette and bathroom, we don't towels, toothbrush, shaver and so on. so please bring them. Also there is Onsen nearby, we can take you anytime. If you worry about them, please ask us anytime before you come.

Teruyuki Kuchu The owner of the Satoyama Guest house Couture. I used to be a backpacker, and have traveled around world twice. After having worked at hotel, travel agency as tour guide, I moved to this countryside to open guesthouse. My hobbies: Traveling, Climbing mountains(I climbed Mt.Kilimanjaro), watching movies and anime. Eriko Kuchu My wife. She is from Osaka. and still lives in Osaka. Her Hobbies:Climbing mountains ( climbed at Mt Kilimanjaro together), Eating, Japanese r Flower arrangement. We want to make this village fun. Actually there are lots of possibilities around. So from time to time, we make some tour showing around, giving advice to look for the house for settlement, and so on.

Our village is really remote. It takes about 2 hours from Osaka or Kyoto city. it is really countryside(Satoyama). there are no convenience store or super market. but in the other hands, only 2 hours ride takes you another Japan which you have never seen. and only half an hour ride takes you to The Sea of Japan, where you can swim, fishing, or surfing. And near the guest house, there is ONSEN (Hot spring). We can help shopping if you want to buy local chicken and vegetable which are not grown in our field. please ask us anytime. if possible, please bring what you might need. At last, you can enjoy trekking, cycling, and meeting locals or "I-turn" people(people moved from big cities) and then learn about their new lifestyle.
