Nazuna Obi Onsen Resort is a luxury ryokan renovated from 350 sqm house and 45 sqm barn, built over 140 years ago. It consists of 5 guest rooms with a private open-air bath drawn from Kitago Hot spring in Nichinan city. Rooms are named and decorated according to elements of Obi “Nauzna Obi Katsume(Kiraku Katsume)” and “Nazuna Obi Ohya(Kiraku Ohya)” both offered as exclusive stays where guests can enjoy an entire Home all to themselves. Each Home has been carefully renovated to preserve its time-weathered beauty wherever possible, while offering familiar comforts, such as Wi-Fi, modern bathrooms, room cleaning, and crisp linens. Within its spacious 1100㎡ premise, “Katsume” boasts a private "Karesansui" garden, which is said to have been created in the 18th century and has been designated a "place of scenic beauty" by Miyazaki Prefecture. Originally a "Nagaya-mon" (gate-house) for a larger Samurai estate dating back to the Edo period (1603 through 1868), “Ohya” has been transformed to highlight traditional Japanese architectural features such as an “irori” (sunken hearth), as well as a “doma” "(traditional earthen floor) featuring an "okudo-san"(traditional stove).

Once the center of a 51,000 "koku" fiefdom ruled by the Ito clan for close to three centuries, Obi is a quaint castle town with streets lined with samurai and merchant villas. Moss covered shrines, Obi Castle, and a "Han" school built by the Ito Clan are among some of the cultural gems that make up Obi's Edo-period townscape.
