Shiraho is one of Ishigaki's most peaceful traditional villages, lined with fukugi trees and coral-rock walls that frame its narrow lanes. The village fronts the Northern Hemisphere's largest colony of blue coral (アオサンゴ) — a rare ecosystem visible from shore and easily reached with a mask and fins. The beach is a one-minute walk from the villa: calm, uncrowded, and ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Cafés and small restaurants are within walking distance. Downtown Ishigaki — with supermarkets, izakaya, and shopping — is a 15-minute drive. 10min from New Ishigaki Airport. Ishigaki is the gateway to the Yaeyama Islands. From Ishigaki Port, ferries run to Taketomi (water buffalo cart village), Iriomote (jungle and mangroves), and Kohama (cycling and beaches). Kabira Bay, the island's most famous scenic spot, is a 30-minute drive north. After dark, Ishigaki is part of the Iriomote-Ishigaki International Dark Sky Park — perfect for stargazing.
