The interior features a calm, Japanese-inspired atmosphere. In the tokonoma alcove, a traditional wooden bear carving quietly watches over the home, adding a warm, nostalgic touch. The house is 40 years old, but the kitchen and wallpaper have been renovated to maintain cleanliness and comfort while preserving its classic character. The home is 87 m² and offers a 4LDK layout (four rooms plus living/dining/kitchen). Sleeping arrangements (up to 7 guests) We provide bedding for up to 7 guests: Upstairs bedroom: 1 double bed + 2 single beds Downstairs bedroom: 3 Japanese futon sets If you are traveling with small children and are concerned about falling from a bed, we can prepare futons in the downstairs bedroom. We also do our best to place potentially hazardous items (such as an electric kettle) out of children’s reach whenever possible. Amenities Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, face towels, bath towels, hair dryer, hair straightener, and toothbrushes are provided. Please note: We do not offer meals. The name “SHISHIMAI” comes from shishimai, a traditional Japanese lion dance performed to wish for good health and protection from illness. The upstairs bedroom is accessible only by stairs, and the staircase is somewhat steep. This property is not barrier-free, so please keep this in mind before booking.

Our home is located in a convenient part of Kushiro City, with easy access to dining and local nightlife. Kushiro’s main downtown area, Suehiro, is within walking distance—ideal for enjoying restaurants and an evening stroll. For longer stays, daily shopping is simple: a supermarket, drugstore, and convenience store are all within a 5-minute walk, making it easy to pick up groceries and essentials. Access : it’s about a 30-minute drive from Kushiro Airport, and about a 20-minute walk from Kushiro Station. On-site parking is available, so rental car guests can stay with peace of mind. Public transportation is limited in this region, so we recommend visiting by car, especially if you plan to sightsee. The location also works well as a base for exploring Eastern Hokkaido. Lake Akan is about 1 hour away by car, Lake Mashu about 1.5 hours, and Tsurui Village—famous for red-crowned cranes—about 1 hour. It’s a great starting point for day trips to experience the area’s nature and scenery.
