It is recommendable for both tourists who would like to stroll around tourist places or those who are more interested in taking a look inside local life in Kyoto. SHOUNSAI is located just by Sanjō-kai Shōtengai arcade, where nostalgic shops, nice restaurants and modern cafes meet. It is one of the arcades which attracts most numbers of people in Kyoto now. You can see how locals buy, eat and chill as one of them in this cozy and friendly arcade. Though it is near the bustling arcade... just down the street, the house is in a very quiet residents area, no worry for being interrupted when you sleep. You can also walk to Hankyu line “Omiya” station and Subway “Nijō jō mae” station. Each of them give you a convenient access to many tourist area in Kyoto or even Osaka Umeda area. If you are looking for a stay in entire traditional house, SHOUNSAI, meaning “cloud brings luck”, is for you!! The appearance is exactly what comes to your mind first when you think of Japanese traditional house “Machiya”, but the facilities are modern and easy to use for tourists. The world cultural heritage “Nijō jō” castle, and Gion festival, one of the biggest festivals in Japan are in a walk-able distance, and you can walk to some stations of different train lines too.
