SENTINEL MARA CAMP is an owner run, luxury tented eco-camp set up in a forest along the Mara river inside the famous Masai Mara reserve. Peter was born in South Africa and has spent most of his life in Africa. He has spent a lot of his time in the bush, gathering extensive knowledge of the game parks of both Southern and Eastern Africa. Peter was educated at Oxford University, archaeology being his special subject. Peter has Kenyan (KPSGA) and South African field guiding qualifications and is passionate about introducing others to Africa and extending their experience and knowledge of its natural wonders, heritage and diverse cultures. The Masai Mara offers one of the greatest wildlife experiences in the world and is home to the greatest concentration of large animals on earth. Many regard it as the planet’s most magnificent wilderness region, comprising open savanna plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries. This vast and breathtaking landscape is punctuated by marshes, forest and areas of bush. Peter is married to Wendy, who was born and did her studies in the USA. Wendy moved to Tanzania in 1994 where she lived in a village and worked for an NGO involved in empowering the poor. She later moved to Nairobi to lecture at Daystar University. She is an ethnomusicologist by training and has focused on cultural anthropology in her studies. Currently, in addition to partnering with Peter in Sentinel Safaris, Wendy is the National Project Director for Business For Life which is a project to empower the poor to start their own businesses. Peter and Wendy sensitively host their guests and are passionate about exposing them to the wonders of East Africa.
