My homestay operates in a traditional Khmer wooden house built on stilts, elevated high above the ground. The house is around 40 years old but has been carefully renovated to provide a comfortable stay for our guests. We’ve preserved the house's original style so you can fully experience the charm and culture of a Cambodian wooden home. Beneath the house is a spacious area, perfect for reading and relaxing. It’s equipped with upcycled car tire bowl chairs and hammocks for your comfort. Surrounded by large trees and located along the riverside, the property offers breathtaking sunsets during the dry season. I also offered bicycle to help to access to the town center with just 5mn cycling.
My name is Sokhy, and I’m proud to be the co-founder of Discover Kratie (DK) Homestay. Following the challenges of the pandemic, I noticed that tourism in Kratie had slowed significantly, despite its many unique attractions—such as the rare Irrawaddy dolphins, the vibrant local culture, fascinating history, and the serene Mekong River. DK Homestay was created to help revitalize tourism in Kratie, offering guests an authentic and flexible way to explore the hidden gems of this charming destination.
We are located in Rokakondal II Village, one of the villages in the town that has preserved the traditional style of wooden houses. Many of our villagers are farmers who grow rice in fields situated just behind the village, near Romleach Lake. The main livelihoods of the people here include farming, raising livestock, and fishing. On Monday to Thursday Kids from our village are walking and riding bicycle from home to school and returning during the noon. Again, our local start at 1:30pm and end at 5:00pm.
