We, Uta Lawaetz and daughters Verena and Anitanja are as passionate about preserving the unique heritage, natural landscape and authentic charm of the property as we are about sharing our home with you and helping you make the most of your time on the island. Honeymooners, couples, families, singles, artists, writers, photographers and digital nomads of all ages have become regulars. It might be due to Uta Lawaetz's captivating life stories, or maybe the peacefulness of the grounds with an 18th-century sugar mill, surrounded by ancient trees and tropical vegetation on 70 acres. Or the love of our happy dogs and cats which many of our guests “adopt” during their stay. It might be a result of those delicious home-cooked meals and plantation-style buffets where lifelong friendships begin.

Balenbouche Estate is a renowned guesthouse, organic farm, heritage site and family home. The 70-acre grounds feature a plantation house, yoga barn, and 18th-century sugar mill surrounded by ancient trees, pastures, and wild beaches. Dining, massages and tours are available. The pitons, hot springs and waterfalls are a short drive away. All our eco-friendly cottages (Waterlily, Banyan, Almond, Frangipani, Calabash and Moringa) are built without screens and cooled by the tropical breeze.

Balenbouche Estate is the perfect location to explore the many sights and attractions in the peaceful South of St. Lucia, including waterfalls, hiking, diving, kite surfing, horseback riding, seeing the volcano & hot springs, the majestic pitons, fishing, whale and dolphin watching, local arts and crafts, local food and culture. Most of the attractions are within a 15 - 30 minute drive. We strongly recommend renting a car for at least part of your stay, which we are very happy to arrange. Also public transport is available right in front of the property. We're happy to help you plan your itinerary and make the most of your stay, no matter what your budget is! We also offer dinner on the day of arrival and a buffet once a week. Breakfast is available every day. All our meals are freshly prepared, using largely local and organic ingredients. We love vegetarian and vegan food and can cater to any diet, just let us know in advance!
