More than a hotel, Dar Sofar is a real guest house where you will feel at home but also well looked after. Your host is a hospitality professional with long experience of service and will be more than happy to share with you his passion for the Drâa Valley and its region.

Property info

Situated on the edge of the Drâa oasis in the village of Agdz and facing the Djebel Khissane Mountain, our guest house welcomes you with 4 rooms all built respecting the local ancestral traditions, and all rooms open to the patio that leads to the swimming pool. Dar Sofar is built following the pure tradition of the pre Sahara regions: the walls are very thick (60 cm) and made of mud built as one block (only few stones are used for foundations) with only small windows to resist the summer heat. Typically the rooms are located around the patio middle area. Nevertheless rooms decoration is taking the best out of Moroccan and local handicraft with a European touch and international comfort (every room is equipped with air conditioning and individual bathroom with shower).

Neighborhood info

Dar Sofar is on the edge of the oasis with a direct access to the endless walking path network throughout all the palmeraie. It is an ideal starting point for treks and bike rides (no bikes available on the property). In this rural area, calm and silence are only disturbed by the birds, the donkeys and the calls for prayer in the various mosques of the village. Situated only 1500m from the house, the village center offers various cafés and traditional small restaurants, various grocery stores, bakeries, butchers, small shops, bus station, taxi station, a fruits and vegetable market, 2 ATM, a post office, and few souvenir shops. The valley is renowned in all Morocco for its dattes (harvest in oct-nov) and a specific market is held daily in the village center (6 to 7 different types of dates are available in the valley, tast them !!).

From the North (Ouarzazate, Tazenakht) : there are only two roundabouts in the village. On the second one you turn on your left in a narrow street and drive straight for 1 mi. A sign on your right tells you to turn right on the unpaved road… 20 more yards and you’re arrived!

From the South (Merzouga, Nkob, Mhamid, Zagora) : After crossing the bridge you will find a roundabout in the village. On this first one you go straight in a narrow street and drive for 1 mi. A sign on your right " DAR SOFAR" tells you to turn right on the unpaved track… 20 more yards and you’re arrived!
