I am a 27-year-old man who was born and have always lived in this village. I can accompany my guests to local waterfalls, valleys and natural swimming places. I can tell you about the history of my region, its customs and traditions.

Property info

Dar Megdaz is a low-budget guesthouse with five bedrooms for guests' occupation, and a shared bathroom and two shared lounges. It is impossible to drive vehicles all the way to Dar Megdaz. The tarmacked road ends 400 metres from our guesthouse. Guests have to walk for six minutes over a rocky, uneven footpath in order to reach Dar Megdaz. If you phone us upon (or shortly before) your arrival at the village, we will meet you and help you carry your luggage from the parking area to your room. Guests can order meals (Moroccan breakfast, lunch, dinner) at an additional cost. Dar Megdaz is situated in a rural, mountainous area; therefore please expect that Wi-Fi will be slow and intermittent. As mentioned earlier, the bathroom area (shower room, toilet, sinks) and the lounges (two sitting areas) are shared amongst all occupants of the five bedrooms. As is obvious from the photographs, the bedrooms are basic, spartan and simply furnished, which is reflected in the low price. Dar Megdaz is intended for tourists who wish to explore the tranquillity of this mountainous area and unique architecture of this unspoilt Berber village — tourists will not find any luxury here whatsoever.

Neighborhood info

The authentic and unspoilt Berber village of Megdaz lies at the remote heart of the central High Atlas, nestled on a mountainside. There is little to do here, but in my small guesthouse you can break your journey and spend some time admiring the red earthen architecture particular to this corner of the world. Megdaz lies almost 2000 meters above sea level and is surrounded by the lush environment watered by the Tessaout river. In Megdaz, visitors can find reddish earthen fortified structures, family homes, barns and defensive forts. The architecture features multiple floors and large flat roofs, which are used for drying grain in autumn and for sleeping outdoors during hot summer nights. Thick earthen walls insulate the homes from scorching sun in summer and from bitter cold in winter. Megdaz with its distinctive Berber architecture is the region's most enchanting village and quintessential stopover for mountain treks and hikes.
