Plužine – Gateway to the Untouched Natural Beauty of the Piva Region Plužine is a mountain town in northwestern Montenegro on the shores of Piva Lake—an ideal base for an active getaway. It's easily accessible: about 2 h from Podgorica, 1 h from Nikšić, ~2.5 h from Tivat, and ~1 h from Foča (Bosnia & Herzegovina). Lake & Nature Piva Lake, Montenegro's largest artificial lake (12.5 km², 45 km long, up to 188 m deep, at 675 m elevation), was created by damming the Piva River in the 1970s. The Mratinje Dam, at 220 m tall, is one of the tallest in Europe. During its construction, the old town of Plužine and the original Piva Monastery were submerged and their structures relocated approximately 8 km away. Piva Regional Park Spanning over 32,000 hectares, this park connects Durmitor and Sutjeska national parks.
