Hello, I am Vesna, your host and the founder of Mahakala. I am a medical doctor with over thirty years of experience in holistic medicine, detox therapies, and women’s health. Montenegro is my home, and Mahakala grew from my wish to bring together nature, simple living, and gentle care for the body. I divide my time between my clinic in Berlin and the center in Buljarica. When I am here, I enjoy welcoming guests, cooking, and helping people reconnect with themselves and the landscape around us.

Mahakala Center is a boutique yoga & wellness retreat nestled on a peaceful hillside above the Adriatic coast, surrounded by olive trees, gardens, forests, and the gentle rhythm of Montenegrin village life. Our elevated location offers breathtaking panoramic views of the sea, the surrounding mountains, spectacular sunrises, and unforgettable sunsets. Our location is ideal for guests who appreciate panoramic views, nature, and peaceful surroundings rather than immediate access to the beach or the town centre. Mahakala is a place for guests seeking tranquility, nature, and genuine relaxation, away from busy tourist areas and city noise. Throughout the season, we offer daily yoga classes, meditation sessions, and other wellness practices, while also welcoming retreat groups during selected periods. One of our most unique features is our panoramic rooftop spa. Guests can unwind in the jacuzzi, sauna, or outdoor soaking tub while enjoying uninterrupted views of the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding mountains. It is a magical place to greet the sunrise, relax under the open sky, or watch the sun set over the horizon. Our yoga spaces are designed to bring you closer to nature. The main yoga shala features floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows overlooking the sea, the mountains, and the sunrise, creating an inspiring atmosphere for practice. We also have a second yoga shala with beautiful mountain views, where guests enjoy peaceful afternoon and sunset sessions. Nature begins just beyond our doorstep. Within a five-minute walk, you can reach peaceful forests and scenic mountain trails, perfect for gentle hikes, mindful walks, and reconnecting with nature. Please note that Mahakala is located on a hillside, and the roads and walking paths leading to the property are quite steep. Mahakala Center sits in Buljarica, a small coastal village where the mountains meet the Adriatic Sea. The landscape is open and natural, with long stretches of beach, forested hills, village houses, and a coastline that still feels largely untouched. Behind the beach lies one of the last remaining coastal marshlands in the Adriatic, a rare ecosystem that supports migratory birds, native plants, and a biodiversity that has disappeared from much of Europe. This mix of sea, wetlands, and forest gives Buljarica its gentle and spacious character. The village itself is simple and grounded, shaped more by nature than tourism. You will find a few family run restaurants, a small shop, a local monastery, and the everyday rhythm of village life. In summer the area becomes more lively, while the rest of the year offers a quieter, slower pace. Montenegro as a whole carries this same raw beauty, with mountains, lakes, forests, deep gorges, and a sense of space that helps people slow down. Buljarica holds all of this in a small and intimate corner of the coast, where nature is always close and life moves gently.
