Villa Liwonde at the doorsteps of the top ranked Liwonde National Park is a great place for HIPPO and BIRD watching who love to pool there in early afternoon hours in the river. A place that renews your spirits. This gem offers optional self-catering facilities assisted by a cook in stunning greenery. Fully equipped kitchen, bbq stand, campfire site and even a "fairy-tale" oven house in the garden for wood oven pizza. With prior notice we can also offer full board. You can hire the cottage exclusively or rent rooms and share the community facilities. This gem can easily be reached all year round even with public transport and without a 4x4. Safaris start next door twice a day. Rooms with modern comfort (air-cons, all ensuite except one) in African classic design combinded with nature!
We are happy to open Villa Liwonde to a wider public and make the Liwonde National Park Experience affordable. The place has been a great source of inspiration for poetry and art.
Ideal starting point to experience the opposite LIWONDE NATIONAL PARK (boat or 4x4 safaris or self-driving) 15min walk to a Hotel Swimming Pool (user fee) and Playground 15 min walk to Indian Restaurant and 1 min to local restaurant and sportsbar 15min walk to next grocery and ATM (basics, up-market products like cheese, green herbs, pork are rare to fin d in Liwonde and it is recommended to bring them when needed) The area is famous for cane furniture and carving of chief chairs. Excursions 45 min to Zomba Plateau, 50 min to Lake Malawi, 20 min to Balaka,
