Casa Guií takes its name from a Zapotec-inspired word connected to living creatures of the sea. Along this stretch of the Oaxacan Pacific, humpback whales migrate past the cliffs every winter, breaching and singing in the open ocean just beyond the horizon.
We are Jacqueline and Fernando artists, parents, and dreamers who built Casa Guií over five years with our own hands and love. What began as a vision became a family sanctuary shaped by resilience, creativity, and deep connection to nature. We love hosting travelers who appreciate beauty, art, and meaningful spaces. Our goal is for guests to feel inspired, rested, and at home. Whether you are here to write, create, celebrate, or simply breathe, we hope this space holds you the way it has held us. The name Guií evokes the presence of these great ocean beings and the living energy of the coast. From the house you can watch the tides, the moon rise over the water, and sometimes the whales themselves passing through their ancient migration route.
Casa Guií is located in Arroyo Cruz, a quiet coastal village on Oaxaca’s Pacific coast known for its untouched beauty and peaceful atmosphere. This is not a resort town it is a hidden gem where jungle meets ocean and life moves slowly. Playa La Boquilla and Playa del Muerto are nearby, offering calm waters, snorkeling, and long walks along nearly empty beaches. From November to April, whale sightings are common right from the shoreline and often visible from the house. Arroyo Cruz is ideal for travelers seeking privacy, nature, and authenticity. Small family run restaurants serve fresh seafood, and the surrounding area is rich in wildlife, ocean views, and quiet moments. It’s a place to disconnect from noise and reconnect with what matters.
