Situated on the Eastern side of Lagoa Njembje, Shongili Lodge is reached by a 8 minute boat ride over the clear, clean waters from the Mozambician town of Bilene, or for the adventurous drivers, an hours scenic 4x4 drive from Bilene. Our lodge is aptly named "Beautiful and Peaceful" (dialects of the locally spoken Shangaan). Your family will enjoy peace and quiet in the eco friendly casitas with fresh water sourced from a well on the grounds. The lodge is run entirely on solar power, which may mean a little less appliances, but also an abundance of quiet reflection. Here, you switch off, get in touch with nature and enjoy beautiful sunsets over the lagoon. We welcome you to our bit of beauty, your break away to peace. It is important to note that we are on the opposite side of the lagoon/Bilene town. If you want us to pick you/your luggage up by boat, you need to make contact with us. Vehicles are parked in town. We are a self-catering lodge : you have to bring EVERYTHING along that you will need for your stay. We do not have a restaurant or bar and there are no shops in the area. If you do need anything, you have to hop onto our boat that goes to town every third day. Biléne has a butchery and a small grocery shop. The market provides fruit and veggies. As we are on solar power, there will be times that the electricity is off because of the weather. So it is not a good idea to bring lots of meat products for in case the fridges defrost. Our kitchens are fully equipped and has a gas stove & power fridge. If you do have a 12V freezer or fridge, bring it along. All units have 12V battery power available, for add lights & 24 hour fans. NO AIRCONS. If you decide to drive to us (4x4), you need to phone us once you leave Biléne town. Please note: We will contact you immediately upon your booking.
