Jan-Luc is a Dutchman who lives in Nicaragua since 1998. He lives, together with his partner Lies, big part of the year on site and receives you with a big smile. He is always open for a nice chat, a cold beer and both Jan-Luc and Lies are full of knowledge about Nicaragua. "The first house built on the property, in 2002, was intended as a weekend home. To cover the running costs (which I had greatly underestimated), the idea came up to build 2 cabins and rent them out. And then I could not stop building and 6 more have been added ". "We enjoy getting to know people who travel or choose to live in another country. That is why I also rent out the cabins/apartments for the long term. I like socializing, but I also respect the privacy and independence of my guests. "We love Caribbean music and salsa the most. The apartment is located on a hill near the pier, with beautiful views of the bay. It has a small bright kitchen, a bedroom, toilet and a separate shower. Additionally, there is a covered terrace of 12m2 (incl rocking chairs, hammock and dining table) functions as an open air living room. The Cueva (as your apartment is called) is one of the 9 apartments that is part of "Cabañas Lobotepe", on a lush hill located 150 meters from the beach of San Juan del Sur and 350 meters from the center of town. You will have a wide view of the bay and/or the hills. In the garden, between the (fruit) trees and bougainvilleas, are 2 communal terraces with a BBQ facility. The cabins/apartments were built between 2002 and 2012 by Jan-Luc and his local crew. Regular upgrades (new bathrooms, bigger wooden decks, new roofs and remodeling of the cabins ) have been done since, as Fernando, the caretaker since 2013, is a skilled and experienced carpenter. All cabins and apartments have a fully equipped kitchen, full bath and a spacious private deck or patio complete with hammocks. They all have views of the bay and/or the lush garden. The caretakers (Fernando and his wife Rebeca) receive the guests when Jan-Luc, the owner, is not there. Fernando also takes care of the garden and maintenance of the cabins/apartments, Rebeca coordinates the cleaning. During the night, either Dennis or Miguel are present to open/close the gate or help you out if there is an issue in the apartment. You can find them at the top of the parking area.

Cabañas Lobotepe is located on a hill with beautiful views of the bay of San Juan del Sur. and is located in the middle of a small typical Nicaraguan neighborhood called Camilo Ortega, popularly called “La Planta”. The people in this neighborhood are friendly and always greet you with a big smile. They mainly live outside so sometimes voices, music, dogs and chickens can be heard.. It is a safe neighborhood both during the day and at night. Small grocery shops can be found within 50m/160ft of the property; the beach is only 150m/500ft away!
