Charming little farmhouse with a garden on the outskirts of Formerum The Terschelling farmhouse De Lytse is situated in Formerum on the Wadden Sea island of Terschelling. This holiday home for 5 people is located on a road with no through traffic. De Lytse is a small, detached farmhouse with a lovely garden surrounding the house, offering various spots to sit, whether in the shade or in the sun. Within walking distance, you’ll find a cosy restaurant and a large supermarket with a bakery; the beach is approximately 1.8 km away. Parking is available on the premises. This cosy and charming little farmhouse has a lovely atmosphere. It features a living room with a fireplace in the sitting area and a well-equipped kitchen. On the ground floor, there are two bedrooms: one with two single beds and the other with a single bed. The bathroom, complete with a washbasin and shower, is also located here. The toilet is separate. On the upper floor is a third bedroom with two box-spring beds. The terrace faces south. A washing machine and tumble dryer are provided. Lytse is a cosy holiday home, fully furnished and in good condition. To access the bedrooms and living areas, you need to climb a flight of stairs with several steps, which makes the house less suitable for people with mobility issues.

Counting from the west, Terschelling is the third inhabited Wadden Island in the Netherlands. The island is bordered by the North Sea to the north and the Wadden Sea to the south. To the south-west of Terschelling lies Vlieland and to the east, Ameland. Many tourists visit the island all year round to enjoy cycling and walking along the beach and through the dunes. As well as its stunning natural scenery, Terschelling also boasts some lovely attractions, such as the harbour at West-Terschelling – situated in the only natural bay in the Netherlands – and the Brandaris, the lighthouse that has towered above the rooftops for over 400 years as a symbol of the island. The island has six villages: West-Terschelling, Midsland, Hoorn, Formerum, Lies and Oosterend. The village of Formerum has an open layout of scattered farmhouses, some of which are among the oldest on Terschelling. Formerum has a supermarket, two restaurants and a pub. It is also home to the cranberry factory. Many events take place on Terschelling: the annual Oerol Festival in June, the Brandaris Race (a sailing race from Harlingen) and the Berenloop marathon. A distinctive feature of the village’s skyline is the Koffiemolen. This is the only windmill on Terschelling. Formerum’s old windmill, which dated back to the sixteenth century, was demolished in 1888. The current corn mill is in good condition, but has not been used for grinding corn since 1964. To the south of Formerum lies the Formerumerpolder. The polder consists of grasslands and pastures and is rich in breeding birds, including the lapwing and the black-tailed godwit. Within the Formerumerpolder lies the Formerumer Eendenkooi, a privately-owned duck decoy where active trapping no longer takes place. To the north of Formerum lies the Formerumerbos, a mixed woodland planted in the dunes by Staatsbosbeheer between 1920 and 1930. The dune area to the north and east of the Formerumerbos forms the Koegelwieck nature reserve.
