Welcome in "Het Binnenhuis" in the heart of Workum! Ideal for a three day visit to the South-West of Friesland. The city centre with its authentic houses, cosy shops and characteristic church with seperate tower are walking distance. The B&B is in the renovated barn of the city farm. The front of the house dates back to 1711. The farm is protected cityscape. You will be staying in the Atelier. Be aware that the room is on the first floor and only reachable by stairs. It is not suitable for people with difficulty walking. Please note these are stairs are only used by you, nobody else will be passing by these stairs. The spacious room is suitable for two persons and offers a comfortable stay. You can work from the big table. Your private bathroom with shower is in the hallway. At the back you have the view towards the harbour. Many boats and yachts pass by. On the side there is a seat for you in the garden. When it is warm you can sit outside. Behind the B&B is a spacious public parking, which is free. We can provide a foldable 1 person bed, ask for conditions. The continental breakfast is served as a buffet and included in the price.

The Museum of Jopie Huisman, the famous painter, is around the corner. You can listen to the the audiotour in 4 languages en enjoy this original selfmade artist. Since February 2025 the museum extended with an additional exhibition area. You can visit the Gertrudiskerk in Workum. There is a separate tower. It used to be the light house for the fishermen at sea. On the square is a small museum called the "Waag" and there are restaurants with terraces. It's open for coffee, lunch or dinner. On the Noard and Sud streets there are more restaurants and shops with antiques, curiosa, and giftshops. There are also a flowershop, hairdresser, bakery, butcher, cheese- and bookshop in the village. At the lock to the Ijsselmeer there are always boats to watch coming in and out. A must is to see the waterfountain "The Fierce Lions of Workum", an enlarged version of the city coat of arms. You can make photos, or try to run underneath the water without getting wet. After the Beginebrug there is an inside market (bakery, butch and cheeseshop). The sea wall (Zeedijk) and beach of IJsselmeer are in walking distance. When there is wind, kitesurfers are active. Workum is one of the Friesian eleven cities, famous for the eleven cities tours and maybe you can cheer on skaters, cyclists, hikers, bikers, rally drivers, supboarders, canoeists. The cosy cities of Sloten, Stavoren, Hindelopen are nearby. Don't forget Franeker with Unesco listed planetarium form Eise Eisinga. Or Harlingen with its sea harbour. Leeuwarden with its Fries museum, the ceramics museum, the beautiful city centre or Oldehove, a tower leaning more than the tower of Pisa. The region with breathtaking views over the fields and lakes. The forest of Rijs and its adjacent cliff (Mirnser Klif) invite for a walk. A day trip to one of the islands is also recommended.
